The Backbone is a bombproof 32mm internal 27.5 trail wheelset mountain bike wheelset. We improve the stiffness, strength and longevity of a wheel by using an asymmetric (ASYM) rim design that improves spoke tension balance by up to 30%. On the trail, this translates to balanced handling you can rely on in even the most rugged terrain. With a 30mm internal width it’s perfect for wide trail tires.
Looking for something that’s extra burly? Our Backbone X carbon rim drops in as our official 27.5” enduro/all-mountain rim thanks to an extra bomb-proof carbon lay-up.
Choose hubs from DT Swiss, Project 321, White Industries, and many more. Match your bike with custom color anodized hubs (on select models) and rim decals. Complete the build with spoke options from Sapim for a custom wheel perfectly built for your needs.
All Astral Cycling wheels are hand-built in Eugene, Oregon and feature Tubeless Easy rims you can easily set them up at home.
