CLOSEOUT: Backbone Gen. 1 Wheelset, 27.5", White CLD+ hubs

The original Backbone, this first generation wheelset hearkens back to 27.5's early days as snappy, xc-oriented mountain bike wheels designed to maximize the smaller wheel size's fast acceleration and quick spinning on climbs. While we have since replaced it with a burlier 32mm internal enduro-style counterpart, a handful of these OG offerings lingered in the warehouse. With today's emphasis on big, fast-rolling tires for gravel riding, the application for this light, quick, 30mm wheelset has again increased. Grab a set today at a killer price and use them as it suits you - be that a fast and lively mountain bike or a cushy gravel/adventure bike. 

We improve the stiffness, strength and longevity of a wheel by using an asymmetric (ASYM) rim design than improves spoke tension balance by up to 30%. On the trail, this translates to balanced handling you can rely on in even the ruggedest of terrain. With a 32mm internal width it’s perfect for wide trail tires. 

This build uses hubs from White Industries, our long term hub partner, in Petaluma, California and is laced using 28H, Sapim Race spokes 2x cross for all the assurance you need.

All Astral wheels feature a Tubeless Easy rim profile for painless tire installation and are hand-built in Eugene Oregon by people that care.
